Comedians often talk of bombing while on stage.
But how often do comedians AVOID bombs while doing a show?
Gary Brightwell was making his living throughout the 90’s touring comedy clubs around the USA- then 9/11 happened.
After troops were deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, it wasn’t long before entertainers were sent in their wake to help lighten their morale and give them a taste of home.
Gary soon found himself in the Middle East on remote bases, aircraft carriers, Blackhawk helicopters, and more. Danger was all around, but hey, jokes must be told!
In later USO tours, Gary traveled as far as Greenland, Japan, the South Pacific, and Europe.
Along with the personal reward of giving something back to the troops, the experience opened the California native’s eyes to the world – forever changing his view.
