Hola, Amigos!
In light of President Obama’s historic trip to Cuba, it seems the right time to share the chat I had in February with a fellow performer aboard the Emerald Princess cruise ship in the Caribbean.
Danny D’Oscar grew up in Cuba as part of a famous circus family that toured around the world. Over 20 years ago, he made the bold move of defecting after a performance in Mexico.
Danny soon married and made his way to Las Vegas, where he still resides. He has performed for Cirque du Soleil, and just about every hotel on the Strip.
He also performs regularly on cruise ships, where our paths crossed to chat about the Cuba he left behind, and the one he expects to see when he returns soon for the first time since leaving.
Hear the Cuban perspective from a man who’s lived it on both sides.
A fascinating chat with an interesting person – a Travel Tales specialty!
Enjoy!
