How does a young American from the Deep South find himself living and teaching in Japan for two years fresh out of college?
For Brendon David, his obsession with the Land Of The Rising Sun began at his Dallas-area high school, which happened to offer Japanese language classes.
He continued to hone his Japanese at college, and when the opportunity to teach English in Japan presented itself, Brendon jumped across the ocean into another world.
His experiences in Japan in the early-2000s as a fish out of water led him to write his recent memoir, The Murmur and Echo.
Brendon shares Tales of navigating the many intricacies of Japanese culture: the customs, traditions, food, people, and yes, even the train system.
Follow more of Brendon’s experiences in his book, and here him in his own words right here on Travel Tales. Arigato!
