Some people find beauty in ruins.
Blake Pfeil found himself.
After seven years of living in New York City, actor/performer Blake felt the concrete walls closing in on him.
He soon moved to upstate NY for a quieter, and sober, life.
But then the pandemic happened, and Blake felt the walls closing in again. While taking one of his many hikes seeking fresh air and exercise, Blake came upon abandoned structures in the countryside.
While exploring the ruins, Blake felt the memories of childhood flooding back to him.
His journey of reflection inspired him to create “abandoned: The All-American Ruins Podcast.” With the show, Blake uses his explorations to create narratives reflecting on his own life, as well as American history.
