If anyone knows the importance of displaying great works of art to the public, it’s the Italians.
Author Rob Samborn found that out firsthand, when a famous painting he saw in Venice inspired him to write a novel – The Prisoner of Paradise.
Rob was no stranger to telling stories, having plied his trade as a screenwriter in Hollywood for nearly 20 years. But there was something about Tintoretto’s Il Paradiso (“Paradise”), the largest oil painting in the world, combined with its exotic Venetian setting, that laid the groundwork for his travel-based, mystery/thriller.
Rob shares Tales of his travels in Italy and beyond, his time spent as an exchange student in Japan, how travel can inspire and inform art, and more.
